The Prep Table

And here she is 'The Prep Table' ~ a much loved piece from our Worcestershire showroom, now available to order for your own home.

After receiving so many wonderful comments about the Prep Table in our showroom, we decided it was time to make it part of the Holly Oak House collection. Designed as a freestanding piece of furniture, it brings together generous storage, traditional craftsmanship and beautifully considered proportions ~ creating a wonderful centrepiece for a kitchen, pantry or utility space.

Each Prep Table is handcrafted around solid oak hand turned legs and solid oak framework, with solid oak drawer boxes constructed using traditional dovetailed joints. Substantial yet elegant, it has the character of a traditional dairy or preparation table while offering all the practicality required for modern everyday living.

For those looking to create a more sociable space, The Prep Table can also be designed with a recessed seating area in place of a set of drawers on one side. This provides a comfortable space to tuck a stool or chair beneath the table, transforming it into a wonderfully versatile piece for casual dining, morning coffee or simply keeping someone company while preparing food. A thoughtful way to combine practical kitchen storage with relaxed, informal seating ~ all within the same beautifully handcrafted design. And, as with so much of our cabinetry, there is plenty of opportunity to make it your own. Choose from our collection of bespoke oak finishes, including the Walnut finish pictured in our showroom, or opt for a painted finish in virtually any colour from any UK paint brand.

Hand-turned legs, dovetailed oak drawers and beautifully considered proportions ~ The Prep Table is a modern interpretation of a traditional dairy table, handcrafted to become a true centrepiece of the room.

The Prep Table is available in lengths from 800mm to 2000mm and widths from 600mm to 1000mm.

Our standard table height is 870mm, allowing for an overall finished height of approximately 900mm when paired with a 30mm countertop ~ in keeping with a standard kitchen worktop height.

Tables measuring up to 1100mm in length feature one stack of drawers to each applicable side and four hand-turned legs. From 1200mm to 2000mm, the table features two stacks of drawers to each applicable side, together with an additional pair of central supporting legs ~ six legs in total.

For tables measuring less than 800mm deep, the drawers are functional on one side only. The opposite side retains exactly the same appearance but features faux drawer fronts, allowing us to maintain the beautifully balanced design. Tables measuring 800mm, 900mm or 1000mm deep can accommodate fully functioning drawer stacks on both sides.

You can also choose between our deep or shallow drawer configurations, or both?, Why not have a side of each if you just can't decide?!

The Prep Table is available in the same beautiful collection of oak finishes as our vanity units, from lighter, natural tones to richer, deeper stains. Each table is carefully finished in-house with two protective coats of exterior-grade lacquer, creating a durable, hard-wearing surface designed to withstand the demands of everyday life in a busy kitchen, while preserving the natural warmth and character of the oak. Finish samples are also available to order, allowing you to explore the different tones and see how they work alongside the colours and materials in your own home before making your final choice.

Our standard cabinet hardware options are included within the price. The Prep Table pictured features the Cotswold Handle by Armac Martin. Should you prefer this hardware, or another design outside our standard collection, simply purchase your chosen handles directly and arrange for them to be sent to our Head Office for fitting.

Your Prep Table is supplied as a fully assembled, freestanding piece of furniture, so please ensure there is sufficient access for our delivery team. These are substantial, beautifully made pieces and can be particularly large and heavy at the upper end of our standard sizes.

Bespoke and larger dimensions are also available on request. Due to their size and weight, these may require installation by our own team and will therefore be quoted individually. Please contact hello@holly-oak-house.co.uk to discuss your requirements.

Due to the considerable weight of stone, particularly on our larger Prep Tables, countertops are not included as a standard option. Larger stone tops require specialist handling and installation beyond our standard furniture delivery service. 

Alternatively, you are very welcome to contact your local stone fabricator for a quotation to supply and install your chosen countertop. We are happy to provide the precise dimensions of your Prep Table to assist with their quotation and, where possible, avoid the need for a separate templating visit, helping to reduce the overall cost for you.
