HOW WE WORK
~
OUR 12 STAGE PROCESS
STAGE ONE
~
OBTAINING AN ESTIMATE
In order to provide the most accurate estimate possible, please forward plans or sketches of your space, together with a brief outline of your project to us.
We typically work within a 150 miles radius of our Workshop and Showroom in Worcestershire (but do make exceptions from time to time) and included in our estimated fee is the all-important design service, together with the build, finish and installation of the cabinetry & counter tops.
Appliances, taps, wastes and any splashback (s) are not included in our estimate at this stage. We aim to provide estimates within three working days of request and our pricing is held for three months.
STAGE TWO
~
MEETING US
Following the estimate, should you wish to explore working with us, you’d be welcome to make an appointment to visit our Workshop and Showroom. It’s here you can see what we are about, view the craftmanship of our work and discuss your project in further detail with us.
If the trip to see us is a long one (we’re based in Worcestershire, WR11 1LB), we’d be happy to give you a call to introduce ourselves and chat with you instead.
Evening and weekend appointments are available on request, we try to be as flexible as possible.
STAGE THREE
~
THE DESIGN PHASE
If you wish to work with us, we then commence the design phase. In this stage of the project, we take as much information as possible from you and transform this into a design. Equally, if you’re not sure what you'd like, we'll create something for you.
We pride ourselves in the quality of our designs and often our visuals are mistaken for real life images. They are created in software designed to create animated films rather than CAD. We print clear dimensions to front on visuals for your builders and tradespersons to work from.
We will work tirelessly with you to ensure the design is perfect, this process typically spans 3-4 weeks as we put our heart and soul into each design. It is at this stage that we would confirm our fees based on the final design.
If once we have completed the design phase, you decide, for whatever reason, not to appoint us, there is a charge for this service at £800 plus VAT per space.
STAGE FOUR
~
ACCEPTANCE
Following the design phase, you are happy with the bespoke design for your space and wish to appoint us, we would issue an invoice outlining the scope of the work and confirmed fees for the project. It is at this point that a 10% deposit is payable to us via BACS.
We regret we cannot accept cash or credit or debit card payments. This deposit secures your build slot with us, and the fee quoted until your estimated install date. Please note that deposits are non-refundable.
STAGE FIVE
~
WORKING WITH YOU
During the period from acceptance to meeting you on site, we will work closely with you and your team to ensure that all tradespersons working in the space have the necessary information they require to carry out their works in readiness for the cabinetry. We will provide annotated visuals of the design for everyone to work from.
Equally, we will take the time here to help you finalise your other design choices, such as flooring, lighting, colour schemes together with your choice of appliances, counter tops, sinks, cabinet hardware, taps and splashback (s). We do hold trade accounts with most premium suppliers so would provide pricing for you in this stage
STAGE SIX
~
ONSITE SURVEY & MEETING
Around eight weeks before your cabinetry is due to be installed, we will visit you on site to measure and survey the space. It is here that we will also discuss the final amends to the project before we start the build, therefore, please do allow 90 - 120 minutes for this appointment.
In order to measure the space, we require, at the very minimum, a screeded floor and plaster boarded walls and ceilings. Please note that if you wish your cornice to flow right up the ceiling, it must be within a 5mm tolerance.
STAGE SEVEN
~
FINALISING THE DESIGN
After our site meeting, we will rework the visuals, if necessary, based on the final dimensions of the space and any restrictions we may have found. You will be asked to sign off the visuals before we commence the build of the cabinetry. It is at this point that we require your final choices in writing for the following:
~ Cabinet hardware;
~ Paint colour(s);
~ Oak stain(s);
~ Appliances;
~ Cabinet hardware;
~ Counter tops;
~ Sinks, taps and wastes; and
~ Internal design for each cabinet (noting that internal storage solutions do add cost).
Following this stage, the first payment of 40% of the final fee will be issued. Once this invoice has been settled, your bespoke project will progress to Stage 8.
STAGE EIGHT
~
THE BUILD
Once the design is finalised, the build phase begins, no further changes can be made to the cabinetry unless agreed with us. This process typically takes 4 weeks to complete before the cabinetry is ready to move on to be finished in our purpose-built spray booth.
All our cabinetry receives three coats of primer, together with two topcoats which are sprayed in our booth using a colour matched toughened industrial coating. We offer our cabinetry in any colour from any UK paint manufacturer – our colour matches are excellent.
During this phase any oak used in your project, primarily for the cabinet internals, are stained (to a colour of your choosing) and lacquered.
After the cabinetry leaves the spray booth it is then fitted together and wrapped ready for dispatch.
STAGE NINE
~
THE INSTALLATION
We will arrange convenient installation dates with you in advance. typically spanning a period of three to four weeks from our arrival on site to the completion of the final snagging.
In order to install your bespoke cabinetry, we will require the following:
~ A laid and dry floor which should be protected;
~ Final coats of painted on the walls and ceilings ;
~ A temperature of 15 degrees so not to shock the timber when arriving at its new environment;
~ A low moisture content;
~ Mains wired lighting; and
~ A clear space for our team to work in free from other tradespersons.
We will send you an invoice for the second payment of 30% of the final fee before the installation process commences. This payment needs to have cleared in our account 24 hours before the install can commence.
The experienced and qualified cabinet makers who built your bespoke cabinetry will carry out of the installation
– we do not outsource our fitting.
After installation we recommend increasing the temperature in the room very slightly over the course of the two to three period (i.e., 2-3 degrees a week). We regret we cannot be held responsible for any warped doors if you have not followed this guidance.
STAGE TEN
~
COUNTER TOPS
Once your cabinetry has been installed, we will arrange for our stone masons to template the space and fit your chosen counter tops. We offer a wide range of quartz counter tops and have many samples to choose from in our Showroom.
Once the counter tops have been fitted and cabinetry fully installed, a further 10% of the final fee is payable via BACS or credit card (1.9% fee applies)
STAGE ELEVEN
~
PERFECTING
After the install, we will snag your project with a fine-tooth comb noting any areas that need attention, we invite you to do the same to create an agreed list for us to work from.
The final balance (10% of the final fee) is due once the snag list is complete and we have left site. Payment is to be made within three working days.
STAGE TWELVE
~
SIX - 12 MONTH REVIEW
Our cabinetry is made from solid timber frames and will need a little time to move and settle into its new environment, typically 6 – 12 months.
During this time it can move, shrink, expand, and possibly twist slightly (timber has a mind of its own!) Please don’t worry if this happens, just contact us and we will return to site to tweak as required.
There is no additional fee for this review.
